We all want to make our blogs popular and we apply different tactics to do so. But here I will discuss some mistakes you must absolutely avoid while blogging.

Not Updating Your Blog
Commonest mistake we do is that we do not update our blog on regular basis, doing this we loose interest of our readers.

Blogging Only for Money!
Some of us blog just for money and doing this create crap articles and reviews that worth nothing and this not only make our blog unpopular but also useless.

No Interaction with Readers
Some times we are so much busy that we do not reply to the comments of our readers. Doing this we loose our reputation in eyes of the reader.

No Proofreading and Copied content
If you are relying on copied content to boost your blog, then you are absolutely wrong! Such type of content is already rated by search engines so they do not rate it again. Also do proofreading every time you publish something as command over language impresses readers.

Writing for Search Engines Only
Many of the newbie bloggers writes for search engine only and forgets the readers. This really hampers the growth of the blog.
Not doing above mistakes can not only boost the traffic to your blog but also popularizes it. So happy blogging!

This post is specifically for the owners of small business. You have to face a lot of problems in the beginning. The basic essence of success is to stand alone and be distinguishable among your competitors. People tend to buy things from authenticated and dependable sources, so your site should be such that it creates trust among the customers. The best medium for it is blogging.

Why blogging? There are many benefits of blogs over the full websites these are listed here.

Cheap marketing
Blogging requires cheap updates or really no money for updates but the websites require fair money for updates. Blogs can be updated regularly without much effort.

Direct contact with customers
Websites and companies cannot communicate directly with their customers, but blogs give you an option to interact with your customers directly. You can read their reactions in comments or can leave an automated email feedback.

Search engine rank
Blogs are always search engine friendly and hence are rated high in search engines. So if you have an established blog you can divert a lot of traffic towards your site.

Blogging is very cheap media of marketing and give your product a reputation to compete with the rivals.

Most of us write blogs to share our personal experiences, for communicating with our friends and of course to promote products. So blogging is simply a daily dairy entry for most of us.

Let’s discuss about blogging and money making. You can make good money from your blog entries if you have a goal in your mind. Let me mention here three tips I want you all to know about how to make money from blogging.

Affiliate marketing
You can find a number of companies that want affiliate relationship with you to promote their products. You can use your blog to specifically guiding the traffic to the source site and you earn commission.

Advertising
There are number of websites, which need blogs like yours to put their advertisements on. One of the best among them is adsense by Google. You earn money on every click made on that link.

Text links
Yet another way to earn from your blog entries is hyper linking the text. This is an effective way of diverting traffic to mother site. Konterra is an example of this type. This way of earning is also based on number of clicks.
So the basis of earning money online is the traffic you get on your blog. The more the traffic the more you earn.

Blogging can be very rewarding, personally, as well as financially. It can also give you a podium for your views, opinions and expertise. By blogging you can connect with others with similar interests and become, if you work hard, an authoritative source.

To help you do this I have put together five tips to help you succeed at blogging.

Blog about your passions. If you are passionate about something the chances are you will be an expert and experts are always worth listening to. If you blog about your passion it will also be easier to come up with interesting and relevant content.

Develop your own style. Serious, humorous, opinionated, dead pan, outrageous… The choices are almost endless. Find a style you are comfortable with and exploit it to the full.

Post often. I would even say post often and little if necessary, this is much better than infrequently and long. Aim for 200 words as a minimum and occasionally right a big post of around 800 to 1500 words. Any more than 1500, split up the posts in to series and leave the reader wanting more.

Promote your blog. There are millions of blogs adrift on the web. Some are dying and some are dead already. Make sure others know about your blog. Just writing posts isn’t enough to guarantee readers. Consider guest writing posts for other blogs as well as leaving real, valid and useful comments on other peoples blogs and in forums to establish your expertise.

Make it easy to follow you. Use tools like RSS, Feedburner, Twitter and Facebook to make sure that your readers have an easy way to follow your blog and know when you have written a new post.

If you start with these five basic tips you blog is off to a good start!

If you are just starting out in blogging it won’t be long before you hear the name “Wordpress”. But what is it? Wordpress is a free and open source blogging application. Wordpress comes in two different guises. The first is the Wordpress.org software which you download and install on your web server and so create a dedicated blog web site (the Blogging and… website is an example of this). To do this you will need web hosting with PHP and MySQL. Wordpress have a handy guide to help you install it.

The other variation is to get a free Wordpress blog at Wordpress.com. The .com version of the Wordpress is a blog hosting service. You sign up by completing the simple form and they will give you free blog hosted under the wordpress.com domain, something like myusername.wordpress.com.

The first thing you need to start blogging is a blog! There are several different ways to get blogs, some cost money and some are free. Today we will look at getting a FREE blog at blogger.com

Blogger is a free blogging service run by Google. To create a new blog go to http://www.blogger.com from there you can create a new blog which will be hosted by Google at subdomains of blogspot.com.

At blogger.com click on the bright orange sign which says “create a blog”. It is just 3 easy steps now to create your blog.

1. Create a Google Account

Blogger is owned and run by Google, so to acccess it you need a google account. By creating a Google account you also get access to other Google services. If you already have a Google account perhaps from Gmail, Google Groups, or Orkut, you should sign in rather than create a new account, to do that click “sign in first”.

To create your account fill in the form making sure you complete the word verification correctly and accept the terms of service.

2. Name your blog
The next step is to give you blog a name. The name or title is really part of your blogs branding. The first thing to note is that the title needs to reflect the nature of the blog. If you want to write about games consoles you don’t want to call you blog “Fluffy’s Day Out”. Another thing to remember is spelling, don’t spell the blog name wrong, it looks bad and nobody will be able to find it using a search engine. You should also try to make the blog title as catchy as possible.

After you have named you blog you need to choose the URL that will be used by visitors to access your blog. The URL will have the format

http://myblog.blogspot.com/

Since there are already a large number of blogger.com blogs, you’ll need to get creative and possibly try a few different ones before you find one that’s available. Use the check availability link to see if the name you want is free.

One thing to note when selecting your blog’s URL is that dashes are the only non-alphanumeric characters allowed. Spaces aren’t permitted, nor are underscores (_) or any other special characters.

3. Choose a template

You can now choose a custom look for your blog. Scroll through the list and see what theme you like. You can preview it by clicking on the “preview template” link. You can easily change the template later, or even create your own custom template design once your blog is set up. Once you have picked you template click on “Continue”.

Congratulations

Your blog has been created! Google create your blog straight away so you can start blogging immediately. To start click on the “start blogging” arrow.
